Needham Recreation Centre Rebuild
The Halifax Regional Municipality will be building a new Needham Recreation Center over the next six years. The existing center is 22,800 square feet and includes a pool, gymnasium, multipurpose room, dance studio, and rental space permanently occupied by Needham Daycare. The grounds of the facility have a parking lot out front, a playground around the back of the building and some open green space. The new center will be built on the old Devonshire Arena site at 3395 Devonshire Ave, across the street from the current Needham Recreation Center.
The new facility will include a larger pool area, a gymnasium, and a variety of rental spaces, totaling approximately 40,000 square feet. The outdoor space will continue to include parking, a playground and seating.
The municipality is seeking input from the community on what features, programs, and services they would like to see available in the new Needham Community Recreation Center and the values the community would like to see incorporated into the design of the new facility.
If you prefer a paper copy of the survey, you can access one at the Needham Community Recreation Center front desk. The survey will be open until Sunday March 27, 2022.
There will be an in-person engagement at the Needham Community Recreation Centre on Wednesday, March 30, 6:30 pm for residents that would like to hear more about the project and give their input in person.
