Needham Community Recreation Centre Rebuild
The Halifax Regional Municipality will be building a new Needham Community Recreation Center over the next six years. The existing facility is 22,800 square feet and includes a pool, gymnasium, multipurpose room, dance studio, and rental space permanently occupied by Needham Daycare. The grounds of the facility have a front parking lot, a playground at the back of the building, as well as open green space.
The new facility will be built on the old Devonshire Arena site at 3395 Devonshire Ave, across the street from the current Needham Community Recreation Center. The new facility will include a larger pool area, a gymnasium, and a variety of rental spaces totaling approximately 40,000 square feet. The outdoor space will continue to include parking, a playground, and seating.
The municipality is seeking input from the community on what features, programs, and services they would like to see available in the new Needham Recreation Center and the values the community would like to see incorporated into the design of the new facility.
If you prefer a paper copy of the survey, you can access one at the Needham Recreation Center front desk. The survey will be open until Sunday, March 20, 2022.
