Thank you to everyone who participated in our online survey and shared how you move through the region and how satisfied you are with the with our existing sustainable transportation network (transit, walking/rolling, and bicycling).

Your feedback will help us learn more about how citizens travel and understand what motivates people to use sustainable transportation modes. With this information, we can recommend improvements to our transportation network.


Background

The Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) (PDF) was unanimously approved by Halifax Regional Council on December 5, 2017 (see approved motion). View the IMP council presentation December 5, 2017 Committee of the Whole Agenda.

The Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) creates a vision for moving around the Halifax region and helps direct future investment in transportation demand management, transit, active transportation, and the roadway network it seeks to improve the links between residents and their communities.

The Integrated Mobility Plan stems from municipal policy direction in the Regional Plan for public transit and transportation, land use and growth centres, including the following:

  • providing a choice of integrated and connected travel options emphasizing public and community based transit, active transportation, carpooling and other viable alternatives to the single occupant vehicle;
  • Promote community development and design that supports affordable and sustainable transportation options;
  • Plan for our future transportation infrastructure needs; and,
  • Design complete streets for all ages, abilities and travel options.

    Since the Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) was approved by Regional Council in 2017, the municipality has been implementing its policies and actions to improve mobility in the region. 

    This Traveler Opinion Survey, which was first carried out in 2019, will assist staff in developing an improved understanding of public perception and awareness of mobility options and what motivates residents to use sustainable modes of transportation.

    This survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and close on August 12, 2024.




    Privacy Statement

    In accordance with Section 485 of the Municipal Government Act (MGA), any personal information collected in this survey will only be used by municipal staff and, if necessary, individuals and/or organizations under service contract with the Halifax Regional Municipality for purposes relating to processing of Traveller Opinion Survey. The information will not be presented or compiled in a manner that could potentially identify any respondent.
