Consultation has concluded

HRM, in co-operation with the Shore Active Transportation Association (SATA), is inviting residents of Porters Lake and the surrounding communities to provide their input into the development of an Active Transportation Plan for the area. This plan will cover an area stretching from Porter’s Lake to Musquodoboit Harbour, including the communities of Porter’s Lake, the Chezzetcooks (East, Lower East, West, Head), Grand Desert, Seaforth, Conrad’s Settlement and Gaetz Brook.

Take the "Big Moves" Survey

At the 2nd public consultation on Monday, October 28th, a presentation was given that shared the results of public feedback since the first public consultation and introduced the 5 "Big Moves" that are recommended based upon community feedback.

1. Develop a Greenway Link in the Core
2. Revitalize the Porters Lake Core Area
3. Paved Shoulders on Key Roads
4. Develop Destination Greenways
5. Education and Awareness

    The purpose of this survey is to better understand the use of active transportation modes (walking, cycling, jogging, etc.) in Porters Lake and surrounding communities.  Information from this survey will be used in the development of a plan to identify community concerns and to guide the development new walking and cycling facilities in the area.
